Why we don't offer "just chicken"
Share
Many raw feeding shops offer heavily discounted bundles of raw food when it is just chicken but you won't find that at Nature's Pets.
Why you may ask?
Feeding your dog or cat a raw diet has so many benefits provided that there is a variety of proteins, (at least 4-5 over the course of a week). This ensures that your pet isn't missing out on any nutrients.
Let's look at chicken vs beef for example:
Nutrient | Chicken breast (100g) | Beef (100g) |
Protein | 23 g | 29g |
Fat | 3.6g | 17g |
Iron | 1g | 2.4mg |
Potassium | 256mg | 237mg |
Vitamin B2 | 0.2mg | 0.2mg |
Zinc | 0.8mg | 6.9mg |
Copper | 0mg | 0.1mg |
Magnesium | 31.0mg | 19.0mg |
The above table gives a brief overview, but straight away you can see beef may be much higher in fat, however it is also much higher in essential minerals such as zinc.
Of course every protein is very different depending on how the meat has been sourced, but this just gives an insight into how variety ensures that your pet is receiving all the nutrients they need to grow, develop and stay healthy.
If we were to offer a "just chicken" bundle, pet owners would instantly be attracted to it, given it would be much cheaper. However we would be actively promoting an unbalanced diet which would potentially result in pets being fed a nutritionally lacking diet.
So instead we have a number of bundle deals including a variety of proteins whilst also keeping the cost as low as possible.
